Wyoming Resident to Perform in Fairfield Summer Theatre’s The Secret Garden
(FAIRFIELD)- Fairfield Summer Theatre will celebrate its 13th year with the Tony Award-winning musical, The Secret Garden. Living in a lonely manor house in 1906 England, Archibald Craven yearns for his beautiful, late wife. He blames his crippled son, Colin, for his wife’s death and has left him neglected and isolated. Their quiet routine is turned upside down when young Mary Lennox, a rich, spoiled child, is sent to live with them following the death of her parents by cholera in India. While living at the manor house, Mary discovers a secret walled garden hidden in the grounds and releases the magic and adventures locked inside, changing their lives forever.
Fairfield Summer Theatre continues its push to produce some of the finest non-professional theatre in Cincinnati. Returning for the third consecutive summer, Fairfield High School graduate turned professional actor, Ryan Heinrich will direct. Jay Goodlett, Associate Artistic Director of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati will serve as choreographer. Also joining the artistic staff this year are professors, graduates and students of theatre programs of CCM and Miami University. The cast features professional actors, opera singers, major college music and theatre program graduates, and current theatre and music students of Wright State University, Indiana University and Miami University. Wyoming Middle School’s, Melissa Campbell, will perform in the lead role, Mary Lennox, on Thursday, July 21 & Saturday, July 23. Darlene Feldmann, Mark Heinrich and Pat Heinrich are producing.
New this year, Fairfield Summer Theatre offers online ticket sales. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the group’s website at www.fairfieldsummertheatre.com. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 513-874-SHOW. The box office will be open daily (except weekends) beginning July 5th from 9 AM to 5 PM. The box office is located in the lobby of the Fairfield High School Performing Arts Center at 8800 Holden Boulevard in Fairfield, Ohio.
Founded in 1998, Fairfield Summer Theatre is a non-profit group. It produces one large-scale musical each summer. It will return in 2012 with one of the area’s first productions of the Broadway smash hit, Hairspray.Submitted by Danielle Campbell
