Wyoming’s Urban Forestry Board wants to remind residents who have lost trees from spring storms to consider purchasing new trees through the city’s tree purchasing program.  Natorp’s Nursery (Craig Natorp 513-398-4769 ext. 1100) and Lagergren Nursery (Bill Lagergren 513-756-9362) are offering special tree rates to Wyoming residents.  A variety of trees are available.  To place an order and to schedule delivery and installation, contact the nursery directly.  Orders must be placed by November 1.  For more information, visit Wyoming’s website, call 513-821-0037 or email mlippert@wyoming.oh.us.

On a related topic, the Urban Forestry Board is accepting nominations for the annual tree awards.  Urban Forestry has been recognizing special trees in Wyoming for over 10 years.  Nominations for special trees are accepted from residents throughout the year.  Then, Urban Forestry judges the entries based on aesthetics, uniqueness, and quality versus others in its species.  In appreciation, a small brass plaque will be given to residents to permanently place beside each tree.  Nomination forms are available at the City Building and on the City’s website and will be accepted until September 1.  For information, call 513-821-7600.

Finally, the City is accepting letters of interest from residents to serve on the Urban Forestry Board.  In addition to establishing programs as noted above, the board approves regulations, and plans and promotes excellent tree care in Wyoming.  Board members come from a variety of backgrounds but share an interest in trees.  Experience in Public relations, law or business management would especially be appreciated. Send lettter of interest to Lynn Tetley at ltetley@wyoming.oh.us or to 800 Oak Avenue, Wyoming, OH 45215.
