Display of “Political Signs”
It is that time of year when many individuals choose to display signs promoting their favorite candidate for public office or other political issues. In May of 2009, City Council adopted a new ordinance regulating signage in the community. “Political signs” fall into the category of temporary, non-commercial signs. A maximum of 3 signs exhibiting non-commercial messages, excluding the property address, may be placed on residential properties within the community. These signs may not exceed six square feet and if the sign is tied to an event, {such as an election}, they must be removed within seven days after the conclusion of the event. No sign may be placed in the City rights-of-way or on any other City property. Signs found in these locations are subject to removal and disposal without notice.
