Go Organic and Keep the Grass Greener in Wyoming! Hamilton County 2010 Backyard Compost Bin Sale

Go Organic and Keep the Grass Greener in Wyoming!
Want greener grass?  Go organic!  Try these simple turf management techniques for a healthy lawn and envious neighbors:

- Let it grow: keep grass at least 3” to 3.5” long.  This improves rooting which means less watering, slower grass growth for less mowing, and extra shade to reduce weeds.
- Apply compost: composting your lawn reduces thatch build-up, ensures plenty of nutrients for new grass and existing turf, and improves soil structure and water retention.  Apply ½” to 1” of compost on existing turf and lightly rake in with a leaf rake.  One application lasts five years.
- Water wisely: go for deep but infrequent water applications of 1” per week.  For most sprinklers that’s about one hour of watering.
- Neglect the clippings: grass clippings break down over time, slowly releasing nutrients that keep grass healthy.  Leave them in your lawn when mowing and let them do their work!
