New Public Sidewalks and Property Damage
New Public Sidewalks and Property Damage
The City of Wyoming has contracted with the R.A. Miller Construction Company to replace defective public sidewalks on a number of streets in the community. The repairs are well underway and we are requesting your assistance to help us put an end to the damage of fresh blocks that we have recently occurred. A significant number of the freshly placed blocks are being intentionally damaged by individuals inscribing various messages in the uncured concrete.
This action is in violation of law and anyone caught defacing the sidewalks will be prosecuted. In addition to filing criminal charges, the City will also seek restitution for the expenses to replace any defaced blocks of concrete. Your help is being requested on two fronts. First, if you have children, please reinforce to them that this activity is considered criminal mischief which is punishable by a fine up to $1,000.00 and up to six months in jail. Additionally we ask that you contact the Police Department at 821-0141 immediately if you observe anyone defacing this public property. Our tax dollars are paying for the repairs which are expensive enough without potentially incurring costs to do the work more than once.
