Fraud & Scam Alert from Police Chief Baldauf

Fraud & Scam Alert from Police Chief Baldauf

A resident reported receiving a mail offer from Canada to be a "secret shopper" from a company named Poudre Valley Care Marketing Solutions Inc.  An unknown subject wanted money to set the resident up with employment.  The mailing included a check in the amount of $2,795.00 which was written under a sham company’s name drawn from First National Bank in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Officers made contact with a First National Bank representative who confirmed that this was a fraudulent check and the account has been closed.  He further stated that they have received hundreds of calls and faxes inquiring about this scam.  The resident, suspecting that something didn’t seem right about this “offer”, immediately contacted the Wyoming Police Department.  As a result, this resident did not respond and is not out any money.

Please contact the police department  at 821-0141 if you have any questions or would like additional information on how to avoid becoming a victim of a fraud or scam.
