2009 Tree Purchase Program

The Urban Forestry Board's Tree Replacement Program has been extended to April 15, 2009!

A
fter the spring storm last year, Hurricane Ike in the Fall of 2008, and the drought conditions of the past few years, the City is encouraging residents to help contribute to the urban forest through planting.  The Wyoming Urban Forestry Board has created a unique way for you to plant trees in your yard at a discount rate.  Below is a press release about the program.

Wyoming
Urban Forestry 2009 Tree-Purchase Program

Discounted Nursery Trees Available For Your Private Property - Installed!

Are you considering planting more trees in your yard, perhaps replacing those lost to drought, wind, and ice?  The Wyoming Urban Forestry Board has arranged for Cassinelli’s Nurseries and Davey Tree Company to

·          offer Wyoming residents high-quality nursery-grown trees,

·          take your order by phone,

·          include delivery and installation in the total price, and then

·          bill you at a discounted municipal rate.

Orders must be placed in APRIL 15 to benefit from the municipal discount.  Planting will be scheduled for April and May.

Below in Tables 1 and 2 are the tree species and prices offered by Cassinelli’s Nurseries and Davey Tree Company.  Important additional information on each of the tree species available is given in Tables 3 and 4.

Before making a purchase, please consider where each tree should be planted.  The site for the tree should be selected based on the height and spread of the tree at maturity and, in addition, how the mature tree will interact with your house and other structures, pavement, and any overhead or underground utilities.  More on selecting trees can be found in “Deciduous Trees for Ohio, HYG‑1082‑01,” published by laceName w:st="on">OhiolaceName> laceType w:st="on">StatelaceType> laceType w:st="on">UniversitylaceType>.

The board also would appreciate receiving from you any input on the program and the quality of the installed trees.
